Mission:

The Blue Sky Art Center exists to be a shelter for a sacred creative community; to facilitate personal and social change with the transformative power of creating art and through exhibitions, education and outreach; to create a forum for cultural engagement centered on contemporary social issues.

It is a reality for our community. There are many beautiful people who want to — need to —express their life and love of life with the world around them. The most beautiful moments in life are those moments when the outside world invades our inner life and we allow change to occur. This can happen in a deep way through the arts. True miracles happen when our lives are truly transformed and we are able to hold our common humanity to the highest level. What we have in common is the need to be connected with one another. Beauty is one of the most important connecting points we have, and it is through beauty, that we at the Blue Sky Art Center hope change the world around us — transforming our community into a hopeful discovery of one another.

Today, we are a collective of artists, lawyers, college professors and other community volunteers that want to spend our lives on others in order to knit our spirit into the community; the sacred to the life around and in us. There are those of us who have lived troubled lives and in that place of pain, have come through the darkness only to realize that by gazing at the edge of the shadow we can see proof that there is light surrounding us.

We are seeking community support to work with the youth of our community. Support can take many forms. First, we need monetary support, and we are seeking grants and community support. We are in need of some simple supplies to keep the ball rolling. We also take in-kind donations. Please contact us if you have any of the following available… Easels, drawing benches, paint brushes, canvases, newsprint pads, drawing charcoal, (new) painter’s drop clothes, M. Graham Oil Colors, painter’s aprons. Also computers and video cameras. Secondly, if you have a desire to know more, or would like to volunteer yourself, let us know that as well … we can have a cup together to talk about it. Third, sign up for classes. Take a look through the calendar to see the classes that we are offering. Check often, we will be adding more soon.

Keep an eye on this space as we develop. Many new projects are in the works for Ventura County and we hope to launch some of them in the near future. There is lots of planning and organizing that must take place in the mean time.

Peace,
